Hoo Hoo Hoo Tis the Season
“When the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught, the last river poisoned, only then will we realize that one cannot eat money.”
Cree Indian Wisdom
Hoo Hoo Hoo, Tis the season! As I watch television it seems like every commercial is about shopping and buying. Sales, specials and bargains are every where! Every year the commercialism seems to get more and more frenzied. What is it that we yearn for? Is it really more stuff? I mean, I like nice things but the older I get the less stuff I really want. I really love connecting with people. I love sharing ideas. I love good stories. How much money do we need to feel secure? We can’t eat money If we took the time to educate, empower, reward and train people we would have a stronger and healthier economy. Our economy would be healthier if we invested in educating the people. Our planet is not doing well. She is melting, burning, choking and suffocating. This is our home. Our earth and our heart. They are one and the same.
As we get closer to the holidays, why not forfeit gift giving with relationship building. Invest in giving away things, invest in healthy conversations, and invest in supporting a cause. Things that will last and pays dividends over and over. Let’s return to our hearts to heal the earth.
